Ashanti Region Anti-Galamsey Task Force Seizes Third Excavator in Ongoing Operation

Ashanti region: The Anti-Galamsey Task Force, operating out of Manso-Adubia, has seized yet another excavator, marking the third such seizure within a week. The latest operation took place on Tuesday, aimed at curbing illegal mining activities in the region.

According to Ghana News Agency, the task force, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bawah Abdul Jalil, previously seized two excavators on August 22, 2025, at Dwendwenase. This action was based on intelligence indicating that Chinese nationals were conducting illegal mining activities within the Forest Reserve.

Continuing their efforts, the task force, comprising 45 police personnel, seized a third excavator on August 26 at Adobewura, a suburb of Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District. Upon arrival, the illegal miners had already vacated the site, but an excavator was found operational at the location.

The seized equipment was subsequently impounded, transported on a low bed carrier, and moved to the task force's base at Manso Adubia for safekeeping and further investigation. A police statement, shared with the Ghana News Agency, noted that Tuesday is typically considered a resting day for illegal miners in the Manso-Adubia area and surrounding regions.

By leveraging this pattern, the task force strategically planned their operations on this day to target areas heavily involved in illegal mining activities, as outlined in the police statement.
