The NDC will not allow itself to be intimidated during the December general elections.Mr Andrews Augustus Nana Akwasi, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, who stated said the NDC would not countenance the use of the country's military by the NPP government to intimidate its members during the elections.Addressing party supporters at a rally at Asewase, he said the leadership in the region would not hesitate to challenge any security official if they did not conduct themselves in a professional manner.Nana Akwasi deplored the subtle attempt by the government to make changes in the military hierarchy in the region and said such a move would not intimidate the NDC members from being vigilant in the upcoming elections.'We are sending a clear message that we are prepared for any attempts by the military to misuse their authority against our people during the election.'We demand a fair and transparent electoral process free from military intimidation.'While acknowledging the NDC's commitment to upho lding the law and promoting peace, Nana Akwasi stressed that the party would not tolerate any form of intimidation during the election.Reflecting on past elections where the NPP, with the assistance of certain security personnel, engaged in such actions, he assured that history would not repeat itself.He reassured the public that the NDC was fully prepared to comply with all legitimate security measures implemented by the security agencies for the elections.The Regional Chairman urged party supporters to remain dedicated to their various roles from the polling stations to the regional levels until their candidates were declared victorious by the Electoral Commission.He called on all party members to actively engage in door-to-door and market-to-market campaigns to disseminate the visions and accomplishments of former President Mahama to the electorate.Mr Faisal Dauda, the Asawase NDC constituency chairman, urged constituents to set aside past grievances and unite as a formidable force to secure a re sounding victory for the MP and John Dramani Mahama.He emphasized that any animosities between him and Muntaka Mubarak had been resolved, and all supporters must unite to achieve success.He commended the party supporters in the Asawase constituency for approaching the 2024 general elections with a renewed sense of unity and expressed optimism that victory would be secured for the NDC this year.Source: Ghana News Agency
