Asenso-Boakye re-affirms government commitment to invest hugely in nation’s road infrastructure

Mr Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister of Roads and Highways has reaffirmed the government's dedication to invest hugely in the nation's road infrastructure to spur economic growth and development.He said the government had planned to allocate more funds for road construction, bridges, and interchanges in the country.Mr Asenso-Baokye said this when he inspected ongoing road construction works in the Ahafo region, saying the government had prioritised road infrastructure as a key development strategy to promote economic growth.Some of the road projects he inspected included Nobeko-Sankore, Sankore-Abuom, Bediako-Kasapin, and Kenyasi-Hwediem roads as well as ongoing work on a standard bridge connecting Ntotroso and Akyerensua on the Tano River.Mr Asenso-Boakye also inspected the progress of work on the Goaso-Tepa, and Tepa-Bomaa roads, and expressed satisfaction about the progress of work on the stretches.He said work on the construction of the Tano Bridge, a 40-meter span, was expected to be complet ed on October 15, this year, saying contractors would soon do the finishing touches for the completion of the bridge.As one of the food baskets of the country, Mr Asenso-Boakye said the road networks in the Ahafo region would be put into good shape to facilitate easy transportation of agricultural produce.Mr Kwabena Owusu-Sekyere, the Ahafo Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, praised the government and the sector minister for their dedication towards improving the road infrastructure not only in the region but the country by extension.He advised the road contractors to also speed up work and complete the projects to enhance the quality of life of the people.Dr Gideon Boako, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Tano North Constituency, expressed his appreciation for the government's decision to elevate the Bomaa road from feeder roads to a highways status and commended contractors working on the Bomaa, Tepa, and Yamfo roads for quality work. ?Source: Ghana News Agency
