Aseda Foundation, an organisation dedicated to empowering young artisans, has organised a mock examination for its students in Takoradi to prepare them for their Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) examination. The mock examination, which took place at the Foundation's training centre, brought together about 240 apprentices made up of 40 males and 200 females who displayed their handcrafts in areas including hairdressing, make-up, baking, sewing, masonry, electrical engineering, and plumbing.Madam Diana Adjei, Chief Executive Officer of Aseda Foundation, said the mock examination was an essential part of the organisation's mission to equip artisans with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their TVET examination. It would also give the Foundation the opportunity to assess them on how well they had improved during their four years of apprenticeship, she said.'Taking them through the mock examination helps them to know the areas the students fall short in to help them with the ne cessary assistance they need before they sit for the final examination,' she said. She said the Aseda Foundation was committed to empowering artisans and promoting socio-economic development in the region, saying, 'The foundation together with masters of the apprentices will provide them with the requisite training, resources and access to a ready market for a brighter future.'The examination was well-received by the participants who appreciated the opportunity to showcase their talents and learn from others.Madam Hannah Oppong Mensah, an electrical engineering apprentice, expressed satisfaction in taking the mock exams, saying, 'This is a great platform for us to showcase our work, know our faults, learn from others, and get feedback from our supervisors in order to improve upon our skills for the TVET exams.'Mr Emmanuel Kingsley Amoah, a plumbing student, also encouraged the youth to venture into vocational training as that was what would equip them for success in the future.Aseda Foundation in col laboration with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) would organise a graduation ceremony for all the apprentices after successfully passing their TVET examination within the next month.Source: Ghana News Agency
