ASANTE-AKIM SOUTH: The Asante-Akim South Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized a parliamentary candidates' dialogue aimed at helping the electorate make informed decisions for the upcoming 2024 election. The event provided a platform for candidates vying for the Asante-Akim South parliamentary seat to share their visions with the electorate, although it was attended solely by the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Kwaku Asante Boateng.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Patrick Asare, the Acting Municipal Director of NCCE, emphasized the significance of the dialogue as a fundamental principle of democracy and the need for such engagements. Mr. Asante Boateng, seeking a fourth term, utilized the occasion to underscore his accomplishments as an MP and to justify his pursuit of another term to further his development initiatives.In his presentation, Mr. Asante Boateng showcased his comprehensive interventions throughout the constituency, which have po sitively impacted lives and improved livelihoods. Key projects highlighted included educational infrastructure developments in basic and secondary schools, achieved in collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Alexander Frimpong. The MP also covered advancements in health, water and sanitation, agriculture, roads, and energy sectors.He explained that some ongoing projects faced delays due to funding sources but assured that work would continue once funds were available. Mr. Asante Boateng urged his constituents to remain patient as he endeavored to extend projects to over 190 communities within the constituency, emphasizing that this progress could only be sustained if he and the NPP government were retained in office. He called on the electorate to vote overwhelmingly for the party to ensure the continuity of development and progress.Apostle Michael Osei Acheampong of the Church of Pentecost, who chaired the event, encouraged attendees to contribute to a peaceful election process in the constituency. He also advised members of the winning party to celebrate their victory with moderation to prevent conflicts with the opposing party.
