Amankwahemaa of Abura Kwaman Calls for Unity to Foster Community Development

Abura Kwaman: Ohemaa Egyama Egyiriwaa Ansaba I, the Amankwahemaa of Abura Kwaman in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District of the Central Region, has urged residents to unite to facilitate the growth and development of the community. She highlighted that negative tendencies such as misunderstandings, disunity, and division are major hindrances to societal progress.

According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Ansaba made these remarks during a free health screening exercise she organized for the people of Kwaman as part of her birthday celebrations. The event also featured career opportunity training for the youth and a community clean-up exercise.

During the health screening, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe-Addai, Chief Executive Officer of Peace and Love Hospital, educated residents about breast cancer, urging them to abandon the belief that the disease has spiritual connotations. She emphasized the importance of early medical attention for those diagnosed with the disease, noting that cancer is curable, preventable, and treatable, and advised annual hospital visits to prevent escalation.

Mrs. Vivian Sarfo, a breast cancer survivor, encouraged men to support their wives diagnosed with breast cancer and urged women to regularly examine their breasts and report any unusual developments to a health facility. During the event, residents were screened for breast cancer, high blood pressure, malaria, diabetes, and other conditions.

The event saw the participation of hundreds of residents, including queen-mothers, the clergy, community leaders, and breast cancer survivors. In a related development, Dr. Wiafe and her team also paid a courtesy call on Nana Okakaben Idun Andoh V, the Paramount Chief of Kwamankese Traditional Area, to inform him about the exercise. Nana Andoh commended the team for their efforts, stating that good health is priceless.
