Akatsi: Mr. Benard Ahiafor, Member of Parliament for Akatsi South and First Deputy Speaker of Ghana's Parliament, has called on his constituents to support him in his efforts to secure vital development projects for the region. He announced a series of educational infrastructure projects set to begin this year throughout the Akatsi South Constituency.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ahiafor revealed that the projects, funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GetFund), will include the construction of modern school buildings, training centers, renovations, and staff bungalows, with a total investment exceeding Ghc 50,000,000.00. This announcement was made during an exclusive interview following the commissioning of a kindergarten school block for Akatsi No 1 Basic School, where Mr. Ahiafor also attended the 'Kiddiefest' event at the Akatsi RC park.
The planned projects encompass a two-storey 12-unit classroom block and a six-unit technical workshop at Avenorpeme Technical Institute, a two-storey girl's dormitory, three semi-detached staff bungalows, and two 12-unit toilet facilities at Akatsi Senior High Technical School. Additional projects include a six-unit classroom block and 12-seater toilet facilities at Dzogadze Basic School, a similar setup at Akeve-Gui Basic School, and six-unit classroom blocks for both Duawodome and Anyiheme E.P. Basic Schools.
Mr. Ahiafor emphasized that these developments are just the beginning, with future plans targeting education, youth employment, health and sanitation, agriculture, and more. He urged residents to support the government's 'Resetting Ghana Agenda' and look forward to upcoming opportunities.
In his commitment to enhancing educational quality, Mr. Ahiafor pledged to continue sponsoring the annual 'Kiddiefest' and other educational initiatives like the 'reading festival' at the basic level. The second edition of KidiFest, a three-day event for KG and Lower Primary learners, featured exciting activities such as a float, cooking competition, and drama performances. The event, led by the Akatsi South Municipal Education Directorate under Mr. Karim Ayaana Umar, aimed to nurture young minds and ignite their potentials through education. Notable attendees included Mr. Daniel Dagba, Akatsi South Municipal Chief Executive, and several educational leaders.
