Mrs Hannah Asamoah, the Agona East Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured drivers and motorcycle riders in the constituency of her support for them to acquire driving licenses to avert police arrests and harassments.She made the promise after 100 drivers and motorcycle riders were issued with licenses at Namanwura in the Agona East District of the Central region.'I have vowed to support drivers and motorcycle riders going through pain and anxiety to acquire licenses from the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA), she said.Mrs Asamoah engaged staff of the Winneba Office of the DVLA where upgraded, renewal and new registrants' licenses were issued to the beneficiary drivers and motorcycle riders in the Constituency.She said drivers who were yet to get their licenses would be given the opportunity at half the cost at least.Mrs Asamoah said a similar exercise would be conducted in two weeks at Agona Mensakrom to enable drivers and motorcycle riders in that enclave also get equal opportunity to renew, upgrade and undertake new registration to assist them conduct their business in peace.She admonished drivers, especially motorcycle operators, popularly known as (Okada riders), to refrain from excessive speeding to reduce accidents, because every soul was precious, and they must also work to survive and not to die prematurely.Mr Ebo Acquah, the Acting Agona East Constituency chairman, said Okada riding had come to stay and urged drivers who were not captured to remain calm as they would be served.He thanked the Parliamentary Candidate for her high sense of responsibility and patriotism and urged drivers to be law abiding to avert accidents and arrests.The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the NPP Parliamentary Candidate and further pledged to rally support behind her and Dr Bawumia to win the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.Source: Ghana News Agency
