African Leaders Urged to Implement Nkrumah’s Vision for 21st Century in Global Governance

Accra: The AfriKan Continental Union Consult (ACUC) has emphasized the need for Ghana and Africa to reclaim their rightful place in global governance by translating Kwame Nkrumah's vision into 21st-century action. Dr. Benjamin Anyagre Aziginaateeg, the CEO of ACUC, highlighted the importance of adopting Nkrumah's traits, such as building institutions, mobilizing states, and sustaining continental unity, by the current African leadership.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Aziginaateeg stressed the necessity for leaders to move from gestures to coalitions by forming formal, durable alliances among African nations on critical issues like trade, security, and finance. He called for an institutional reform agenda, advocating for a unified African position on reforming the UN Security Council and global financial architecture.

Dr. Aziginaateeg stated, "This is the practical inheritance of his vision-realized not in homage, but in policy and institutional power," envisioning a united African caucus negotiating from a position of collective strength. He emphasized the need to strengthen Ghana's socio-economic resilience to underpin its continental credibility.

While acknowledging President Mahama's inspiring speech at the 80th United Nations General Assembly, Dr. Aziginaateeg noted the importance of moving beyond symbolic gestures to actions that reflect Nkrumah's pan-African vision. He urged Ghanaian civil society and Pan-African partners to hold leaders accountable to measurable reforms and called on international partners to engage seriously with defined African proposals.
