KADJEBI: ActionAid Ghana, in collaboration with the Network of Communities In Development (NOCID), observed this year's Global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence in Kadjebi, Oti Region. The event focused on the theme: 'Towards Beijing +30: Revolting against Structural Violence | Unite to End Violence against Women and Girls,' emphasizing the need for solidarity in combating gender-based violence.According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Agnes Afua Obour, NOCID Co-ordinator, highlighted that the gathering aimed to unify efforts in eradicating violence against women and girls. She emphasized that both ActionAid and NOCID are committed to this cause, advocating for transformative structural changes. The event stressed the importance of collective action and visibility to address gender-based violence as a global issue.Mr. Anthony Ankutse, Kadjebi Deputy District Co-ordinating Director, noted that despite progress under the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, violence against women and gir ls remains prevalent. He pointed out that structural violence continues to perpetuate inequality and discrimination. Superintendent Frank Nana Asomaning, Kadjebi District Police Commander, underscored that all forms of violence are punishable by law.The event also featured remarks from various local leaders and officials, including the District Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, who emphasized the collective responsibility in the fight against gender-based violence. The Global 16 Days of Activism, observed annually from November 25 to December 10, seeks to raise awareness, support survivors, and advocate for effective policies to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls.
