Accra: Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has assured President John Dramani Mahama of utmost diligent performance from him and his colleague ministers. Speaking on behalf of his colleagues during the swearing-in ceremony, Mr Ablakwa emphasized their commitment to serving the President and the nation with the highest level of diligence.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Ablakwa expressed gratitude to President Mahama for the confidence placed in them. "We wish to assure His Excellency the President and the people of Ghana that we do not take this confidence for granted and we do not take lightly the responsibility that has been put in our hands," Mr Ablakwa stated during the ceremony held at the seat of Government in Accra.
Mr Ablakwa pledged that they would serve the people of Ghana as charged by President Mahama, emphasizing diligence, integrity, hard work, discipline, and respect for the chiefs and people of the country. He acknowledged President Mahama's high standards and noted that the President's example of hard work and dedication left no room for excuses in serving differently.
He further assured President Mahama, the Vice President, and senior government officials that they would perform their duties with integrity and modesty, as exemplified by President Mahama. Mr Ablakwa highlighted their commitment to protecting the public purse and ensuring that public assets remain for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
The ministers vowed to develop and add value to the nation's assets rather than misappropriate them. Mr Ablakwa stated that the ruling National Democratic Congress' manifesto and the President's code of conduct would guide their actions. He emphasized their awareness of high expectations and the importance of meeting them to maintain public trust.
Mr Ablakwa reiterated their dedication to ensuring the NDC remains the preferred party of the people and their commitment to creating prosperity, wealth, and opportunities for all Ghanaians. He assured that their service would extend to all citizens, regardless of background or political affiliation.
In closing, Mr Ablakwa declared their readiness to serve and reset the country, promising President Mahama that they would not disappoint.
