Abelemkpe: Mr Teddy Kwei Baddoo, Assembly Member for Abelemkpe in the Ayawaso West Municipality, has made an appeal to the Government for assistance in completing development projects initiated by the local community. Among these projects is the significant expansion of an existing Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound into a polyclinic to improve healthcare access for residents of Abelemkpe and the surrounding areas.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Baddoo mentioned that residents are willing to contribute resources towards the project, but government support is crucial for completing and operationalising the facility. He expressed the community's readiness to collaborate with the Municipal Assembly to ensure the project's success.
In addition to seeking health infrastructure support, Mr Baddoo, in partnership with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), extended the Authority's Community Outreach Programme to local drivers on Friday. This initiative aimed to make licensing and registration services more accessible by providing services such as driver's licence registration, renewal, and replacement of lost licences. Mr Baddoo highlighted that this initiative is part of broader efforts to decentralise essential services, thereby making them easily accessible to the community.
Furthermore, Mr Baddoo stated that his office is actively supporting residents with Health Insurance registration and other social services. He also welcomed the Government's decision to provide monthly stipends to Assembly Members and urged for their timely disbursement to aid community work.
Dr Michael Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso West, praised Mr Baddoo for his contributions and encouraged other Assembly Members to undertake similar developmental initiatives. Dr Mensah also called upon representatives to focus on improving sanitation and security in their electoral areas.
Echoing the sentiments for communal development, Mr Alex Setsoafia Avorkpo, a resident of Abelemkpe, appealed to authorities to enhance street lighting in parts of the community to improve nighttime security.
