Accra: The Ministry of Education has announced the release of school placements for candidates who took this year's 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Out of a total of 603,328 candidates, 590,309 have qualified for placement into Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), and Technical and Vocational Institutions (TVIs).According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Clement Abass Apaak, Deputy Minister of Education, revealed these details during a press briefing in Accra. He stated that 483,800 candidates, which represents 82 percent, have been automatically placed. However, 107,509 candidates could not be matched with their initial school choices due to high demand for certain Category A schools.Dr. Apaak noted that the placement exercise encompassed 724 public SHSs/SHTSs, 233 TVIs, and 70 private SHSs. In response to potential issues with placements, resolution centers have been established at district, regional, and national levels to address related concerns. The Deputy Minister warned parents and guardians against paying money to any individual, whether a Ministry official or a third party, for placement. He urged that anyone soliciting payment should be reported to the nearest police station or the Office of the Special Prosecutor."As a nation, we must acknowledge that while access to secondary education is expanding, the demand for certain top-tier schools remains higher than their available capacity," Dr. Apaak emphasized. "It is therefore important that we manage expectations and, more importantly, work together to strengthen all schools. Every Ghanaian child deserves quality education, no matter where they are placed," he added. The Ministry of Education released the school placements for this year's BECE candidates on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 0800 hours. Meanwhile, the students are expected to report on campus to commence their studies between October 18-20, 2025.
