Kato: A town in the Berekum East Municipality of the Bono Region was thrown into a state of disbelief when a 45-year-old man, Kwasi Yeboah, allegedly shot himself and his two children.
According to Ghana News Agency, Kwame Agyei, aged 14, sustained gunshot wounds and is responding to treatment at the Berekum Holy Family Hospital. The bodies of nine-year-old Olivia Fakyewaa and her father, Yeboah, were retrieved by the police from their room in Kato and deposited at the same hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
During a visit, the Ghana News Agency gathered from some residents that the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, July 9, 2025. The couple had been divorced, and the children were living with their mother, who was only known by the name Madam Sarah. Yeboah, the deceased, had earlier gone to pick up the children from their mother and took them to his house, where he committed the act.
A reliable police source confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency, stating that further investigations were ongoing. The tragic incident has since spread rapidly in the Berekum Municipality, as the police investigate to unravel the mystery surrounding the act.
