Ansongo: Eleven terrorists from the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara, including a senior commander, have surrendered to the Malian Armed Forces in the town of Ansongo in northern Mali.
According to Ghana News Agency, the surrender took place on Saturday, as reported by Malian television ORTM on Sunday.
Ibrahim Boubacar, also known as Oubel, is identified as the leader of the terrorist groups operating in the Tessit area of northern Mali. His surrender marks a significant development in the ongoing conflict in the region.
In a separate operation conducted on the same day, the Malian army, in collaboration with the Africa Corps and the Movement for the Salvation of Azawad, successfully neutralized several terrorists. Among those killed was Abou Dahdah, a terrorist leader and explosives expert.
