Sakumono: Mr Ludwig Teye Totimeh, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has promised the Sakumono Junior High School (JHS) a facelift, to create a conducive teaching and learning environment for the school's population.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Totimeh made the promise after touring the dilapidated school project, which had parts of its roof ripped off, exposing iron rods in columns, an uneven playground floor, and a lack of furniture, among other issues. The tour was part of his three-day familiarisation visit to electoral areas to collect first-hand information on challenges facing the municipality, to help the Assembly strategise to address them.Mr Totimeh stated that the Assembly's engineers would swiftly assess the situation and immediately commence work on renovating the school. 'As a matter of urgency, I will get the engineers to work so that by the time the children come back from vacation, the problem will be solved to create a good learning environment for them,' he said.Mean while, Mr Gabriel Lucky Ocansey, the Assembly Member for the Woler Electoral Area, stated that the school's situation had persisted for years before he assumed office. Mr Ocansey noted that he had consistently reported the issue to the Assembly and personally invited the MCE for inspection to determine what could be done immediately to alleviate the suffering of the school's staff and pupils.'I am pleading with the MCE to resolve this issue in my electoral area because this classroom serves our children, and if it is not taken care of, it will be a big problem for their education,' he added. He further appealed to the Assembly and other stakeholders to assist the school with furniture for both students and teachers to create an effective teaching and learning environment for improved academic outcomes.
