Tamale: President John Dramani Mahama, as part of his 'Thank You Tour' of the Northern Region following his electoral victory, addressed a gathering at the Jubilee Park in Tamale. He expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support he received from the region throughout his political journey. The president emphasized his commitment to fulfilling promises and enhancing the development of the Northern Region.According to Ghana News Agency, President Mahama assured the people that the nursing and teacher trainees' allowances would now be managed by the Controller and Accountant General's Department to eliminate the delays experienced during the previous administration. Furthermore, he announced plans to increase public holidays for Sallah celebrations, allowing Ghanaian Muslims to observe their religious festivities.President Mahama also outlined his government's focus on critical infrastructure projects, including improving electricity supply and completing the Eastern Corridor road to boost economic acti vities and trade between the northern and southern regions of Ghana. He pledged to invest in afforestation projects to combat deforestation and promote environmental sustainability in the region.During the tour, Ali Adolf John, the Northern Regional Minister, praised the Northern Region's role in President Mahama's electoral success and appealed for the establishment of a military barracks at Yendi to address ongoing conflicts along the Eastern Corridor. Naa Alhaji Alhassan Abukari Yakubu, Chief of Kasuliyili, expressed support for the President's initiatives and thanked him for appointing members of the region to his government.Ya-Na Abukari II, the King of the Dagbon Traditional Area, urged President Mahama to address the water crisis in Yendi and focus on creating jobs for the youth. In response, President Mahama assured the King that the government would urgently tackle the water issue and expressed his gratitude for the support received from Yendi and its people.
