Obuasi Area Church of Pentecost Supports Prison Inmates with Essential Donations

Obuasi: The Obuasi Area of the Church of Pentecost has made a significant contribution by donating essential items worth GH? 30,000.00 to the inmates of the Obuasi and Ahinsan Local Prisons. The outreach program was spearheaded by Prophet David Kankam Beditor, Area Head of the Church of Pentecost in Obuasi, who emphasized the importance of extending love and care to those often overlooked by society.

According to Ghana News Agency, the donation comprised various essential items, including bags of rice, sugar, maize, beans, boxes of meat, crates of eggs, ceiling fans, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and slippers. Prophet Beditor highlighted the church's establishment of a department known as the Prison's Ministry, which is dedicated to catering to the needs of individuals in prison custody by providing spiritual support and addressing some of their social needs.

He referenced a scripture from Matthew 25:43, underscoring the church's commitment to treating every individual with dignity and respect, irrespective of their circumstances. The gesture aimed to demonstrate love towards prisoners, as mandated by scripture, and to convey God's love to them.

The church intends to sustain its outreach efforts by exploring ways to provide continued support to prisoners and their families. Prophet Beditor also urged other churches, non-governmental organizations, and individuals to assist in meeting the needs of prisoners.

Assistant Superintendent of Prisons, Mr. Price Asante-Yeboah of the Obuasi Prisons, received the items on behalf of the inmates and expressed gratitude to the church for its generosity. He noted that such gestures positively impact the morale and rehabilitation of inmates, significantly improving their well-being. ASP Asante-Yeboah called on other entities to support the Obuasi Local Prison, particularly with food supplies and urgently needed drugs.
