Nkwanta: Mr. Joseph Kwame Antwi Awal, the Municipal Chief Executive of Nkwanta South in the Oti Region, has embarked on a familiarisation visit to the Nkwanta Market to engage with traders and their various leaders. The visit aimed to gather first-hand information on the challenges facing businessmen and women in the area and discuss ways to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the market.
According to Ghana News Agency, the MCE highlighted the ongoing implementation of projects designed to enhance the market’s infrastructure and functionality. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the municipality and market stakeholders, noting that collective efforts are essential for the success of these initiatives.
Mr. Antwi urged market leadership to encourage their members to fulfil their civic duty by paying market tolls and taxes. He emphasized that these contributions are vital for the assembly’s ability to generate internally generated funds (IGF), which are crucial for funding developmental projects within the municipality.
Furthermore, Mr. Antwi expressed his commitment to fostering peace and unity within the township, highlighting the need for a harmonious environment to support economic and social progress. The market queen, known as ‘Madam Dora,’ pledged her support to the Assembly and tax collectors in ensuring that all market vendors pay their taxes. She recognized the importance of revenue mobilization through tax collection as a catalyst for positive development within the municipality.
