Nana Buadu Elected New GJA Central Regional Chairman, Edges Contender by Two Votes

Cape coast: Mr. Kingsley Nana Buadu, Head of News and Current Affairs at Radio Central, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Central Region, narrowly defeating the incumbent by two votes.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Buadu secured 18 votes, narrowly surpassing Mr. David Yaboi-Tetteh, the outgoing chairman, who garnered 16 votes in a closely contested election. Mr. Adu Gyamfi Marfo of Kingdom FM was elected Vice Chairman unopposed, with the remaining executive positions also going uncontested.

In his victory remarks, Mr. Buadu pledged to reinvigorate the Association, promising to make it more vibrant, accountable, innovative, and inclusive. He reiterated his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises, including constructing a regional secretariat and reviving the long-dormant regional awards scheme.

Mr. Buadu assured members of improved welfare support and broader participation through the formation of committees to help drive the Association's activities. He expressed his desire to leave behind an Association that is strong, united, and influential in the region, open to all qualified practitioners, and playing a key role in regional affairs due to its credibility and reach.

Mr. Buadu called for unity and urged members to support the new leadership in moving the Association forward.
