Krachi East NADMO Launches Community Awareness Campaign Along River Oti

General

Accra: The Krachi East Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has embarked on a community awareness campaign to educate residents living along the River Oti about safety procedures and emergency response services. This initiative aims to prepare communities for potential flooding caused by the spillage of the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Jonathan Dzunu, the Municipal Director of NADMO, emphasized that the campaign focuses on educating residents on the risks associated with flooding and necessary precautions to take. The campaign also aims to inform communities about emergency response services and evacuation procedures when needed.

Mr. Dzunu addressed communities such as Kudorkope, Fante-Kope, Fiakope, and others, providing guidance on safety measures during floods, including moving to higher ground and avoiding electrical hazards. He expressed gratitude to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Safo Nketia, and the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Nelson Kofi Djabab, for their support.

According to Mr. Dzunu, their support has been instrumental in facilitating NADMO’s operations, enabling the organization to move from one community to another effectively. This support has allowed NADMO to reach more communities, providing critical education and preparedness training to residents.
