Accra: Mr. Abraham Kotei Neequaye has announced his resignation as President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) due to personal reasons.
According to Ghana News Agency, the GBA President stated that resigning from his position was a difficult decision, but he believes it was the best course of action. In a statement, Mr. Kotei Neequaye expressed his regret over the decision, stating that it was necessary for both him and some executive board members to maintain integrity and dignity at this crucial time.
Mr. Kotei Neequaye conveyed his gratitude to all stakeholders for their support throughout his four-year tenure. He acknowledged the opportunities he had as the GBA President, expressing that the insights gained would be beneficial in his future endeavors. He made it clear that his decision was made after careful consideration of his career goals and personal aspirations.
He also took the opportunity to thank the media for their support, especially during challenging times when he and his board members faced character assassination. Mr. Kotei Neequaye expressed appreciation for the support from fellow compatriots, highlighting the sacrificial nature of his work in an unpaid role dedicated to serving others and the country.
Mr. Kotei Neequaye is expected to hold a press conference on Friday, June 27, 2025, to reveal further details of his resignation.
