New york: The jury in the trial of Sean 'Diddy' Combs has retired to deliberate and reach a verdict regarding the charges against the former rap superstar. The trial, which has captured widespread attention, sees Combs facing serious accusations including sex trafficking and organized crime in a New York court.
According to Ghana News Agency, the 12-member jury, consisting of eight men and four women, is tasked with determining the guilt or innocence of the 55-year-old Combs. The deliberation process is open-ended, allowing the jury to take as much time as needed, which could range from a few hours to several days before delivering a verdict.
Combs, who has denied all charges and pleaded not guilty, is facing allegations that, if proven, could result in life imprisonment. Over 30 witnesses were called to testify during the six-week-long trial. In their closing arguments, the prosecution alleged that Combs operated a 'criminal enterprise' involved in kidnapping, arson, bribery, forced labour, and sex trafficking.
The defense, while conceding that Combs had a history of domestic violence, refuted all other charges. The outcome of the jury's deliberation is awaited, as it will determine the future of the former rap icon.
