Ellembelle: Mr. Joseph Agyekum has been confirmed as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, having won unanimous support from all 52 Assembly members.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Agyekum received full backing from the Assembly, consisting of 16 government appointees and 36 elected members, during a secret ballot election overseen by Madam Pearl Klutse, the District Electoral Officer. The confirmation process concluded with Her Worship Awo Amissah French, Ellembelle District Magistrate, administering the oath of office, allegiance, and secrecy to the newly appointed officials, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling their duties with commitment.
Mr. Joseph Nelson, Western Regional Minister, expressed gratitude for the consistent 100 percent approval of the President's nominees for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Western Region. He highlighted that the seamless confirmation process would facilitate accelerated socio-economic development at the local level.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Agyekum expressed appreciation to the Assembly Members and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party hierarchy, assuring that he would honor the trust placed in him by working diligently to advance Ellembelle's development. He extended his gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the nomination and pledged to serve with dedication and integrity, aiming to collaborate with stakeholders to address district challenges.
Mr. Agyekum urged all political factions to set aside differences and unite in their efforts to elevate Ellembelle District. He emphasized that development thrives in an environment of peace, love, and unity, calling for collective efforts to achieve a prosperous future for the district. He assured that he would work closely with stakeholders to drive the district's rapid development.
On behalf of the Assembly Members, Mr. Paul Kodwo Kwaw, representing the Kikam electoral area, committed to supporting the successful tenure of the new DCE.
