Beirut: The Israeli military announced on Thursday that it had initiated a wave of strikes targeting 'Hezbollah military targets' in southern Lebanon. The strikes were most intense in Dibine, where large areas were shrouded in thick smoke.
According to Ghana News Agency, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that the strikes forced residents of Kfar Tebneet in the Nabatiyeh region to evacuate their homes and move to safer areas, creating significant traffic congestion. Lebanese sources indicated that some residential houses were affected during the strikes.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has condemned the strikes, accusing Israel of ignoring the ceasefire mechanism established under UN Security Council Resolution 1701. In a cabinet meeting, Salam urged the international community, especially those countries sponsoring the ceasefire, to apply maximum pressure on Israel to cease its attacks.
Following the initial strikes, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) issued new warnings about alleged Hezbollah positions near the port city of Tyre, including Tayr Zibna (Chehabiyeh) and Borj Qalaouiyeh. IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee, speaking on platform X, warned residents to evacuate and maintain a distance of at least 500 meters from the targeted sites.
The Lebanese army reported that Israel's violations have exceeded 4,500 since the ceasefire was established after last year's conflict.
