Helicopter Crash Claims Lives of Two Ministers and Six Others

Accra: Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has conveyed his condolences to the Government and the families affected by the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two ministers and six others on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Dr. Bawumia expressed his sorrow over the tragic loss, acknowledging the service and sacrifice of the deceased.

According to Ghana News Agency, the helicopter was on its way to Obuasi when it lost contact with radar and crashed in a forested area near Adansi Brofoyedru. The incident resulted in the deaths of several prominent figures, including Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Mutala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology.

The crash also claimed the lives of Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Annala, and Flying Officer Manin Twum Ampedu. The Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah, confirmed the identities of the victims through official government communication.
