GJA Regains Prominence Under Leadership of Albert Kwabena Dwumfour

Takoradi: Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), asserted that the Association has regained its lost prominence and solidified its position as the fourth estate of the realm under his leadership. He expressed these sentiments during a meeting with members of the Western Region GJA in Takoradi, where he sought their support for re-election as President for a second term.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Dwumfour highlighted the significant strides made under his administration, emphasizing the resurgence of respect for the GJA. He noted that the Association, once considered ineffective, has now become influential and vocal, attributing this transformation to the appeal it has gained under his tenure. The GJA, he stated, is now a formidable entity capable of advocating for press freedom, a core mandate that his leadership has prioritized.

Mr Dwumfour emphasized the intensified efforts in defending press freedom, claiming that journalists can perform their duties without fear. He urged members to support his re-election for continuity, citing his proven leadership capabilities and the foundation laid during his term. The meeting also featured other aspirants for various GJA positions, who presented their visions to the Western region members in anticipation of the national and regional GJA election scheduled for June 30, 2025.
