Ghana Airports Company Affirms Strict Adherence to Promotion Protocols

Accra: The Management of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has firmly stated that all promotions within the organization have been carried out following strict adherence to established protocols. This assurance comes amid recent allegations concerning appointments and promotions.

According to Ghana News Agency, the company clarified that the promotion process includes departmental recommendations and thorough evaluations by panels comprising at least six members. These panels also involve representatives from the Public Services Commission and relevant professional associations. The management has responded to recent publications containing what it describes as false allegations regarding internal promotions.

The GACL emphasized that interviews for promotions were conducted between May and July of 2024, with appointment letters distributed in August and September of the same year. Contrary to reports, Ms. Felicia Edem Attipoe has not resumed her post at GACL since January 2025. Furthermore, the promotion of Mr. Gideon Grumah to Director of Commercial Services was approved by the GACL Board in 2023, before the current Managing Director, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, assumed her role.

The statement refuted claims that individuals were rapidly elevated to top management positions within three months of engagement, asserting that these individuals have served the company for extended periods, with many remaining at officer level for 15-20 years. It highlighted that Mr. Eric Nartey Yeboah's appointment followed due process, including an interview and approval by the GACL Board.

GACL reiterated its commitment to merit-based advancement for all staff, noting that in 2024, 109 Aviation Security Personnel were promoted under the Staff Advancement policy, recognizing their long-standing contributions to the company. The organization assured the public and stakeholders of its continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and operational excellence in fulfilling its mandate.
