Accra: The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has revealed that four individuals have been arrested and granted bail in connection with the major drug bust in Cape Coast earlier this year. He added that two prime suspects, however, remained at large.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Minister was briefing Parliament on Wednesday when he noted that aside from the driver and his assistant, four other individuals were subsequently arrested and granted bail. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the two prime suspects, with the next court hearing scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025.
The Minister stated, "Mr. Speaker, it has to be mentioned that apart from the driver and his assistant, four other individuals were subsequently arrested and granted bail." He further emphasized that efforts are being made to capture the remaining suspects, with the hearing set for later this month.
The operation, which led to the seizure of approximately 3.3 tonnes of cocaine, was executed by operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) in March 2025. The Interior Minister assured lawmakers that the government remains committed to addressing drug trafficking issues.
