Former Envoy Backs Kennedy Agyapong for NPP 2028 Flagbearer

Accra: Ambassador Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, Ghana's former envoy to India, has endorsed Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong's bid to become the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 general election. He urged party delegates to vote for Mr Agyapong when the NPP holds its presidential primaries on January 31, 2026.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Asomah-Cheremeh, a former NPP Chairman in the then Brong-Ahafo Region, emphasized the party's need for a candidate who embodies boldness, confidence, and a deep understanding of the grassroots. He described Mr Agyapong as the only aspirant with the charisma and traits necessary to secure the party's victory in 2028, warning delegates not to repeat the 'unpardonable mistake' that contributed to the NPP's 2024 election defeat.

He further called for unity within the party, urging members to bury differences, address emerging challenges, and re-strategise to reclaim the party's traditional seats. With a united and committed front, Mr Asomah-Cheremeh expressed confidence that the NPP could regain political power in 2028.
