Accra: President Carlos Vila Nova of So Tom© and Prncipe has expressed his condolences to President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana following a tragic military helicopter crash.
According to Ghana News Agency, President Nova visited Accra on Monday to sign the book of condolences and lay flowers at the Ceremonial Garden of the Presidency, honoring the eight victims who perished in the military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region. The crash claimed the lives of several prominent Ghanaians, including Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Minister for Defence, and Alhaji Dr. Murtala Muhammed, the Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology.
The other victims were Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Mr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress; Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO); along with Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah from the Ghana Air Force.
Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna were laid to rest on Sunday at the new military cemetery at Tse Addo in Accra.
