The latest political developments in Libya and efforts of the United Nations mission to help the various Libyan parties achieve a general consensus were the focus of a meeting held, Friday, in Tunis, between Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya Abdoulaye Bathily.

The UN envoy welcomed Tunisia’s active role since the beginning of the Libyan crisis, calling for boosting bilateral cooperation so as to consolidate the political process in Libya and achieve security, stability and development in the whole region.Latest

Nabil Ammar reiterated Tunisia’s position on the need to find a Libyan-Libyan solution to the crisis in Libya and its support to international efforts.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that «Tunisia is ready to increase coordination with the UN mission so as to help the various Libyan actors reach a consensus that would result in the organization of elections and the establishment of permanent and u
nified institutions.»
