Fire Outbreak at Kissiman Junction Claims Life of Infant


Accra: A fire outbreak at the Kissiman Junction slum near Achimota-Samodak in Accra has claimed the life of a four-month-old baby. The inferno, which occurred on Wednesday morning around 0400 hours, saw over 20 makeshift wooden houses razed.



According to Ghana News Agency, Divisional Officer I (DOI), Alex King Nartey, a member of the Public Relations Department of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), confirmed that the fire has since been brought under control. Firefighters from the Legon and Abelempke Fire Stations responded swiftly after receiving a distress call at 0412 hours.



He stated that the firefighters at the scene worked diligently to contain the blaze, preventing further spread to nearby buildings, including a warehouse. The charred body of the baby has been handed over to the Police for further investigation. The GNFS is currently investigating the cause of the fire incident.
