According to Ghana News Agency:ccording to Ghana News Agency, the participants of the program included foster parents and those whose children had been reunited with them after years of separation due to abandonment. The training was designed to enhance the ability of these parents to provide a supportive and nurturing environment for their children.
Madam Stella Mawutor, the Volta Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare, emphasized that the training aimed to keep parents informed about contemporary developments in child-rearing, including relevant laws. She highlighted the necessity of providing parents with the knowledge required to help children adjust to their new environments following separation.
Madam Mawutor reiterated the country’s policy that every child should grow up in a family setting, as the home is considered the ideal place for children to receive love and care. She urged parents to prioritize quality time with their children and to address both their physical and psychologic
al needs, which are crucial for the children’s wellbeing and development.
Mr. Gideon Korda, Director of AiBi Friends of Children Foundation, expressed the Foundation’s commitment to continue working with the Department of Social Welfare to reunite vulnerable children with their parents. He encouraged parents to utilize the training to provide the best possible care for their children.
Some parents expressed gratitude to the Department of Social Welfare and the Foundation, vowing to apply the skills and knowledge gained from the training effectively.
