Ghana Denounces Israeli Airstrikes on Qatar, Calls for Adherence to International Law

Accra: The Government of Ghana has issued a strong condemnation of what it terms an 'unprovoked Israeli attack' on Qatar, which has reportedly resulted in casualties, fatalities, and property destruction. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra released a statement on Wednesday asserting that the airstrikes represent a violation of international law and an infringement on Qatar's sovereignty.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Government emphasized that the attack jeopardizes ongoing peace efforts between Israel and Palestine. The statement highlighted the severity of the situation, calling the airstrikes a significant setback to the pursuit of peace in the region. The Government of Ghana expressed its position clearly, stating, "The airstrikes constitute a clear violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of the State of Qatar."

President John Dramani Mahama conveyed solidarity with Qatar's leadership and citizens, offering support to the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The statement further acknowledged Qatar's dedication to mediating peace between Israel and Palestine, urging that this incident should not hinder ongoing diplomatic initiatives.

The Government of Ghana reiterated its commitment to backing all efforts aimed at fostering peaceful dialogue and upholding sovereignty in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in maintaining regional stability.
