Kumasi: Members of the Concerned Youth of Asante have voiced their strong opposition to a planned demonstration by some Ghanaians against Igbos residing in the country. The President of the Concerned Youth of Asante, Nana Agyenim Boateng, addressed the media, expressing his group's disapproval of the proposed protest.
According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Boateng emphasized the historical hospitality of Asanteman, highlighting its tradition of welcoming foreigners and treating them with kindness. He stated that this longstanding tradition makes the proposed demonstration unnecessary and unwelcomed. He further clarified that the presence of Igbo individuals in Ghana should not be seen as an issue.
Nana Boateng called for the government to focus on enhancing border security to prevent malicious individuals from entering the country, instead of targeting the Igbo community. He noted that Ghanaians are known for their hospitable nature and are always ready to welcome foreigners.
He advised all foreigners living in Ghana to abide by the country's laws, which would contribute positively to the well-being of society. The President also pledged that the Youth of Asante are committed to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among all residents in Ghana, rejecting hatred and division to uphold shared human values.
