Accra: Ahafo Ano South-West: Mr. Abubakar Sedik, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South-West in the Ashanti Region, has appealed to community members to always engage qualified electricians to work on their electrical problems. This, he said, would help prevent fire disasters resulting from electricity in their homes, shops, and workplaces to help protect life and property in their communities.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Sedik made these remarks during the commissioning of electricity projects at separate ceremonies in 'Ohia Nhye Da', Mmrobem, and Barniekrom-Nyamebekyere in the district. The communities were connected to the national electricity grid under the Rural Electrification Project of the Ministry of Energy.
Mr. Sedik emphasized the government's vision to provide electricity to all communities to help boost social and economic activities. He highlighted the importance of using electricity appropriately to prevent fire hazards in communities, urging community members to engage qualified professionals. "Let us deal with the right people at the right time in order not to create extra difficulties to our existing problems," he added.
Community members expressed their gratitude to both past and present governments for initiating and completing the projects, which brought an end to their years of living in darkness.
