Bono: The Bono Regional Office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has conducted a one-day orientation workshop for its newly appointed District and Municipal Coordinators, along with key personnel in the region. The workshop aimed to equip them with essential knowledge and skills in disaster management.
According to Ghana News Agency, the coordinators, drawn from the 12 politically administrative districts and municipalities in the region, received training on best practices in disaster management and their specific responsibilities. Mrs. Fati Kine-Lam, the Bono Regional Director of NADMO, emphasized the importance of building stronger collaborations and working diligently towards disaster management and prevention.
Mrs. Kine-Lam highlighted that NADMO's focus is on disaster management rather than relief, urging coordinators to intensify community outreach and educate the public about disaster management and prevention strategies. Mr. Joseph Yere, the Bono Regional Mental Health Coordinator, provided insights into psychological first aid services, emphasizing the importance of taking responsibility and providing comfort to disaster victims.
Some coordinators expressed gratitude for the training and appealed to the government for logistical support and equipment, such as computers, furniture, life jackets, and motorbikes, to enhance their effectiveness in disaster management.
