Abesim: Mr Biiya Mukusah Ali, the 2024 Bono and Ahafo Regional Best Journalist of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), attributes his recent accolade to his commitment to truthful reportage and perseverance. Mr Ali, who serves as the Bono Regional Correspondent for the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), was named the overall best journalist at the awards ceremony organized by the Bono and Ahafo Regional chapter of the GJA in Abesim, near Sunyani.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Ali was recognized for his outstanding contributions in the categories of newspaper, political, and agroecology journalism, earning him two laptop computers, certificates, and plaques. Reflecting on his achievement, Mr Ali stated, “Receiving the overall best journalist for the region reminds me of how to choose journalism as a life career, and I am always committed to achieving my career goals.”
The theme of the award ceremony was ‘The role of the media as a tool for peacebuilding and development in the Bono and Ahafo Regions.’ Mr Ali expressed his gratitude to the GCGL and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) for their support in helping him advance his career.
In addition to Mr Ali, Miss Jasmine Akwaboah, a reporter for Moonlight FM in Sunyani, was honored as the 2024 Bono and Ahafo Regional Best Female Journalist, receiving a tablet, certificate, and plaque.
During her welcoming address, Mrs Regina Benneh Siaw, the Bono and Ahafo Chairperson of the GJA, acknowledged the sponsors for their support and congratulated all award winners for their exceptional work. Furthermore, seven other journalists were recognized for their achievements in categories such as feature writing, news anchoring, education, telecommunications, health, and crime reporting, each receiving a plaque, certificate, and tablet.
