Accra: The Bodi District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Western North Region has organized a community durbar at Sefwi Bodi aimed at equipping the youth with knowledge on the rule of law in the fight against corruption. Mr. Emmanuel Awotwe, the Bodi District Director of NCCE, emphasized the importance of every Ghanaian being informed about laws designed to combat corruption within individuals and institutions across the country.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Awotwe highlighted the rights and responsibilities of citizens to inquire about governmental activities, stressing the importance of transparency. He noted that the initiative is supported by GIZ and co-funded by the European Union, aiming to motivate duty bearers to avoid corrupt practices.
Mr. Isaac Ofori, the Bodi District Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), educated participants on the Whistle Blowers Act, urging them to report any corruption to relevant authorities. He pointed out ongoing corrupt activities in the district and encouraged the youth to actively challenge such wrongdoings.
Police Corporal Francis Kofi Baafi Opoku, representing the Bodi District Police Command, also urged the community to report any corrupt activities to the police for appropriate action.
