Bechem: Mrs. Nancy Arthur, the Headmistress of the Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC) in the Ahafo Region, has urged families to engage their adolescents in decision-making at home. She emphasized that involving young people actively in such processes would instill responsibility and aid in their proper upbringing and development.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Arthur shared these insights while speaking at the fifth Annual Commendation Service of the school, held in Bechem, within the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region. The service is conducted annually to honor and appreciate the deserving final year students for successfully completing their three-year academic and extracurricular journey at the school.
Mrs. Arthur further explained that the service also serves to rededicate the students’ lives to the Almighty God, preparing and ushering them into the world beyond school. She encouraged the students to remain disciplined and contribute positively to society. The service recognized 1,183 final year students, consisting of 704 males and 479 females, and Mrs. Arthur urged them to aspire to live productive lives.
The event also featured Reverend Atta Dwomoh Appiah, the Abesim District Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), who addressed the students on the topic ‘Chosen, equipped and commissioned for God’s mission’. He emphasized that commendation marks the beginning of their mission, which comes with responsibility rather than mere recognition.
Rev Gilbert Ntow Asare, the School’s Chaplain, advised the students to build their trust in God, remain focused, and work diligently towards achieving academic excellence. He encouraged them to draw inspiration from biblical figures such as David, Timothy, and Jesus Christ, urging them to serve with humility in all their endeavors.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of prizes to deserving students, and the students, in turn, presented a citation of honor to Rev Asare in recognition of his dedicated service to the school.
