Association of Physical Planners Lauds Appointment of Prof Mensah

Odomase: The Local Government Service Association of Physical Planners (LOGSAPP) has congratulated Professor Lord Mensah on his appointment as the Head of the Local Government Service. Mrs. Gifty Nyarko, the National Interim President of the Association, highlighted Prof Mensah's leadership in academia and public finance.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Nyarko expressed the association's confidence in Prof Mensah's capabilities during an interview in Odomase, Sunyani West Municipality. She emphasized that his extensive experience and vision would provide strategic direction and advancement for the service. Prof Mensah's expertise in economic planning, fiscal, and decentralization policy is expected to bolster public financial management effectively.

Mrs. Nyarko further noted that Prof Mensah's role would facilitate efficient resource allocation, improving local government structures, particularly in spatial plan preparations. Many Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) have shown limited commitment in this area, and Prof Mensah's leadership is anticipated to address these challenges.

His understanding of financial systems is seen as a key asset to aiding local governments in securing funding and implementing effective spatial and urban planning initiatives. Mrs. Nyarko also indicated that his leadership would enhance coordination between financial management and physical planning, fostering sustainable and viable development.

The association expressed full support for Prof Mensah, with hopes that his guidance would help the service achieve new milestones in promoting growth, innovation, and excellence in local governance and spatial planning.
