Assemblyman Calls for Investigation into Mysterious Deaths in Berekum

Berekum: Mr. Kwaku Rooney, the Assembly member of the Amangoase Electoral Area in the Berekum Municipality of the Bono Region, has expressed concern about the discovery of lifeless bodies in the Municipality.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Rooney highlighted that four lifeless bodies had been discovered in the Municipality in February 2025 alone, urging the police to work hard to unravel the mysteries surrounding these deaths.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Berekum, Mr. Rooney remarked that the situation was becoming alarming, noting, "We just discovered another lifeless body this weekend adding up to four bodies." He detailed that the male body, believed to be in his 30s, was found with sticks and stones, indicating a possible lynching.

Residents of Berekum Amangoase shared varied opinions with the Ghana News Agency during a visit to the scene. Some suspected the deceased was a thief, while others believed he was a lunatic known for chasing and attacking women and girls with sticks.

A police source, when contacted, confirmed that investigations were ongoing and urged residents to remain calm. The police have since retrieved and deposited the body at a mortuary.
