Kumasi: A high court in Kumasi has sentenced Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, also known as 'Tycoon,' to life imprisonment for the murder of his 26-year-old girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah, referred to as Maa Adwoa, at Adum.
According to Ghana News Agency, the court found Inspector Twumasi guilty with a 5-2 jury verdict. The tragic incident occurred on April 20, 2023, when Twumasi, a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT), fatally shot Maa Adwoa in the abdomen and chest following a disagreement near the Aseda House in Adum.
Initially pleading not guilty at his first court appearance on July 26, 2023, Twumasi faced several court sessions before the high court ultimately sentenced him to life imprisonment. The courtroom was filled with family members who expressed relief after the verdict was announced.
Madam Adwoa Nyarko, the mother of Maa Adwoa, conveyed gratitude to the media for their continuous coverage of the case, describing the judgment as 'long overdue justice' for her daughter. After two years of legal proceedings, the case has reached its conclusion.
