Ashanti Regional CNC Unveils Artistic Murals at Kumasi Hospital

Kumasi: The Ashanti Regional Center for National Culture has unveiled murals at the pediatric ward of the Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Kumasi to celebrate World Arts Day. This initiative aims to create a welcoming environment for children as they receive medical care.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Grace Agyapong Fosu, Head of the Visual Arts Department of the CNC, emphasized that the global theme for this year's Arts Day celebration is 'Do No Algorithm.' The theme promotes creativity and innovation while discouraging the reliance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for art creation. The Graphic Design and Painting Section of the Visual Arts Department of the CNC crafted murals featuring two nurses attending to a sick child, alongside popular cartoon characters like the Little Mermaid, Tweety, the Lion King, SpongeBob, and Mickey Mouse. This artistic endeavor aims to provide children with an experience of real painting.

Mrs. Fosu highlighted that hospital authorities were specific about the images selected for the walls, given the ward's focus on children. Mrs. Rosemond K Owusu-Ansah, Deputy Director of Nursing Services, remarked that the paintings would positively impact the children's recovery process. She noted that the depiction of nurses attending to a sick child would help the young patients feel more at ease during their visits to the ward.

Mrs. Owusu-Ansah expressed gratitude to the CNC for considering the needs of the children and enhancing health delivery with such calming and friendly images on the walls.
