All Africa Conference of Churches Appoints Rt. Rev. Dr. Agbeko to Peace Programme

Accra: The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) has appointed Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd), Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, as an Executive Member of its Eminent Persons of the Ecumenical Programme for Peace in Africa (EPEPPA). According to Ghana News Agency, the announcement was made by Rev. Dr. Fidon Mwombeki, the General Secretary of AACC, highlighting Dr. Agbeko's dedication to promoting peacebuilding, justice, and democratic governance across the continent.

The appointment comes shortly after Dr. Agbeko's election as Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana. As a member of EPEPPA, Dr. Agbeko is expected to play a pivotal role in AACC's peace initiatives throughout Africa. These initiatives include conflict mediation, solidarity visits to countries in crisis, and election observation missions, all in collaboration with the African Union and regional blocs.

The official statement regarding the appointment emphasized Dr. Agbeko's responsibility in enhancing early warning response mechanisms and fostering a culture of peace, particularly in politically unstable regions. EPEPPA members are charged with supporting nations facing challenges such as conflict, poor governance, or democratic breakdowns.

The statement further articulated that the mission is not solely about resolving conflicts but also about establishing the foundations for enduring peace, justice, equality, and dignity. Dr. Agbeko's new role is perceived as a significant enhancement to Ghana's contribution to pan-African peacebuilding efforts.
