Tamale: Assistant Chief Fire Officer Grade Two (ACFOII) Mr. Jacob Hagan has officially retired from the Ghana National Fire Service after 33 years of active service.
According to Ghana News Agency, the colourful retirement ceremony was held at the Northern Regional Headquarters of the Service in Tamale and was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Northern Regional Minister, the Savannah Regional Fire Service Commander, and heads of other security services. Before his retirement, ACFOII Mr. Hagan served as the Northern Regional Accountant and later as the Second-in-Command to the Northern Regional Commander. He eventually became the substantive Northern Regional Commander, a position he held for one month.
During the ceremony, Mr. Hagan expressed his gratitude to his colleagues, friends, and family, who played a significant role in his memorable journey within the Service. He advised young officers to remain respectful, obedient, and disciplined to advance their careers in the Service.
ACFOI Mr. Joseph Koranteng, the Northern Regional Fire Commander, delivered a farewell message on behalf of the Chief Fire Officer. He described Mr. Hagan as a trailblazer who mentored countless firefighters and fostered a culture of teamwork, respect, and dedication within the Service. Mr. Koranteng highlighted that Mr. Hagan was not just a fire officer but also a friend and a pillar of support to the Northern Regional Command.
Mr. Koranteng also emphasized that Mr. Hagan’s dedication, expertise, and passion had significantly contributed to the successes of the Service in the area. He noted that Mr. Hagan’s absence would be greatly missed due to the indelible mark he left in the hearts of many people. He thanked Mr. Hagan for his selfless service to the country, assured him that his legacy would continue to inspire the younger generation, and wished him the best in his future endeavors.
