Volta Region Elects Tanko Kwamigah Atokple as Council of State Member

According to Ghana News Agency:anahene, who is also the Vice Chairperson of the Volta Regional Electoral Commission, officially declared Mr. Atokple as the winner with 24 votes.

Other candidates received the following votes: Azi Ganyo - 5 votes, Dr. Wuaku David Kofi - 4 votes, and Felix Lartey - 2 votes. Candidates Gibrilla Buhari, Mr. Worlali Kwabla Ameevor, Torgbuiga Adama III, Torgbui Kpemini Gawu, Havi Delali Justice, Kirchuff Atengble, Godwin Yayra Nkuawu, Godisgood Amgashie, and Rev. Cephas Kwadzo Dzidzienyo received zero votes.

Following his victory, Mr. Atokple expressed his gratitude to the delegates and reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for the region's development at the national level. He highlighted the Volta Region's economic potential, stating that it possesses about 60 percent of Ghana's natural resources and pledged to leverage this for regional growth.

Mr. Atokple emphasised his dedication to engaging young people in government policies and ensuring their voices are heard. He assured the delegates and the people of Volta that his leadership would be inclusive, transparent, and people-centered.

He pledged to work with all stakeholders, including traditional authorities, district assemblies, and youth organisations, to foster development. He promised to be accessible and available to the people of Volta, encouraging them to invite him to their local events and engagements.

With his election, Mr. Tanko Kwamigah Atokple now joins the Council of State, where he will serve as an advisor to the President of Ghana, representing the interests of the Volta Region at the highest level of governance.
