Hohoe: The Volta North Regional Police Command has ramped up its efforts to tackle the increasing incidents of motorcycle accidents and thefts across the region. This initiative aims to enhance road safety and curb criminal activities associated with motorcycles.

According to Ghana News Agency, the region has recently experienced a surge in motorcycle-related accidents, some of which have resulted in severe injuries and loss of lives. Motorcycle thefts have also been on the rise, becoming a significant concern for both residents and law enforcement.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Richard Dassa, Commander of the Volta North Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), stated that personnel have been deployed to key areas, including the Hohoe township. The police presence is focused on reducing motorcycle-related offences by ensuring proper registration, valid licensing, and adherence to helmet use while preventing passenger overloading.

ASP Dassa highlighted that the police are not only enforcing the law but also educating riders on road safety, responsible riding, and the importance of following traffic rules. This dual approach aims to protect the lives of riders and their passengers.

He noted that many theft cases involve unregistered or improperly documented motorbikes, making recovery difficult for owners. ASP Dassa urged motorcycle owners to ensure that their bikes are properly registered and secured.

The public has been encouraged to cooperate with police operations and report suspicious activities to help improve safety and security in the region. Police officers have been observed conducting checks on motorcycles and enforcing traffic regulations to promote road safety.

Residents and riders have expressed appreciation for the police command's efforts to enhance road safety and reduce criminal activities involving motorcycles.
