Upper East Minister Urges Churches to Attract Investors for Regional Development

Upper East: Mr. Donatus Akamugri Atanga, the Upper East Regional Minister, has made an appeal to church leaders to play a pivotal role in bringing investors to the region to aid its development. Recognizing the significant trust the public places in church leadership, Mr. Atanga suggested that churches might be more effective than political entities in attracting investment, given the often skeptical view investors have of political systems due to their changing nature.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Minister made this appeal during a meeting with the leadership of the Upper East Region Zone 'A' of the Assemblies of God (AG), Ghana. The church leaders had visited his office to extend their congratulations and best wishes as he assumed his role as the political head of the region. Mr. Atanga highlighted the integrity and continuity associated with church leadership, emphasizing that these qualities make churches well-positioned to lobby for investments.

The Minister acknowledged the current developmental challenges facing the region and called on religious bodies to seek investors actively. He pointed out the critical contributions religious organizations have made in areas such as education, health, and economic empowerment, which have significantly improved citizens' lives and contributed to nation-building.

Addressing the security challenges in the region, Mr. Atanga noted that Upper East is currently the most challenging region to manage in terms of peace due to ongoing chieftaincy, mining, and land disputes. He urged religious leaders to pray for peace, which he identified as essential for attracting investors to the region.

Reverend Albert Adekaldu, the Zone 'A' Regional Superintendent of the AG, Ghana, led the delegation and congratulated the Minister on his appointment. He expressed confidence in Mr. Atanga's ability to meet the expectations of the region's residents. Reverend Adekaldu highlighted the AG's historical role in national development since 1931, emphasizing their involvement in education, health, youth empowerment, and community development in the Upper East Region.

During the visit, the church leaders prayed for divine guidance, strength, and protection for the Minister as he navigates the challenges of his new role.
